Dr. Lori Brown is a teacher, leader, reader, writer, and coach.

Brown grew up on a farm in the mountains of Western North Carolina, spending summers breaking beans, shucking corn, and sampling the strawberry crop. Watching her grandparents work long hours in the fields instilled a deep appreciation for honest, hard work. Alongside her twin sister, Kristi, she was shaped by early values of faith, family, and farming that guided her formative years.

Following in the footsteps of her parents—both retired North Carolina public school educators—Brown began her career as a high school German teacher. Over the next 15 years she held various roles in teaching and leadership for NC and SC schools. Following completion of her doctorate, she transitioned grant writing skills and educational knowledge to the corporate sector, serving as a technical proposal writer, manager and director of learning for national and international learning environments.

Dr. Brown has worked with some of the nation’s largest global corporations, leading cross-functional teams in large-scale proposal development and delivering professional learning to educators. She credits more than a decade in the corporate sector as the catalyst for improved expertise in leadership, management, career satisfaction and conflict resolution.

Her professional background also includes significant roles within the non-profit sector, including service as a church-based Children’s Ministry Director and active volunteer in a homeless shelter.

Brown is the published author of a book on school safety and frequently contributes to diverse national and international publications, including devotional writing for the faith-based sector, leadership development articles, school safety, and regional interest pieces. In her “free time,” she reads dissertations for doctoral students, provides editorial guidance to friends, and enjoys travel with her twin.

From cradle to college, Dr. Brown has worked for more than 20 years with public, private, parochial, and homeschooled students. She is an IAP-certified Career Coach and stays current through research, conferences, and local teaching.
